Breaking news! Gwendolyn, our Editor In Chief,is now teaching kindness classes! Let's hear a word from her now. "I think it's safe to say that the grand opening was a great success!"says Gwendolyn. Now to get in to the things she discussed at the presentation. "There are three types of kindness." That was her first sentence in the presentation. "Public, personal, and environmental." She explained the three types, and then announced that she would be doing private kindness lessons every Thursday,if anyone wanted to sign up. Everyone signed up,and now we are having lessons. PET PANic! #
One Monday Afternoon, you look out just in time to see a black blur flying Past. Rosie* is the black blur, and boy, can she run! She dashes after your cat, Harley Jane, into your grandparent Back-yard. You see Gwendolyn, our Editor in Chief, run after her. She does't find harley-Jane but soon rosie comes out of the back yard. I guess it's good to remember that we shouldn't let harley Jane out.

**Dear Badger,
Our family is having a problem and I hope you can help. You see, I'm the head chef in our family, and I love to make soup. It's one of my favorite things to make because it's not only delicious and comforting, it makes for perfect leftovers and also freezes well. The problem is that the other members of my household don't love soup as much as I do. In fact, they've started to complain about the amount of soup I make! What can I do to keep my family happy at mealtime without having to give up my beloved soup?**
Sincerely,
Souper Sad in Seattle
Dear Souper Sad in Seattle,
If they don't like it, THEY gotta change it, so get each member to pick a day to cook breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Good luck!
love,
Badger
Cold chocolate snacking cake: great idea, or complete failure? #
A review of Cold Chocolate Snacking Cake from the view from great island #
I came across this recipe when listening to Preheated Baking Podcast (which, by the way, is a great podcast for people that like to bake), and they mentioned this recipe. I really wanted to have some type of chocolate cake at the time, so I decided to make it. The recipe is quite easy, in my opinion, and it took very little time. When it comes out of the oven, you have to decide whether to eat it warm, or cold, as the recipe directs. I had to taste it early, so I could write this article, and I decided not to make the frosting, but it still tasted amazing. All in all, I loved this recipe, and would easily make it again. That's all, so see you next time!

What's happening? #
Winter birds are leaving and spring birds are arriving.
Who's leaving? #
The Townsend's Warblers were last seen in late March and have moved to the Cascades and forests of British Columbia to nest. Yellow-rumped Warblers live in the Puget Sound all year 'round, but have stopped visiting the suet feeder to find safer nesting spots.
What about the Regulars? #
The Bewick's Wrens, Song Sparrows, Anna's Hummingbirds, Dark-eyed Juncos, Spotted Towhees, Northern Flickers, Crows, Black-capped Chickadees and Bushtits are still here. They are singing, paired up, building nests and raising young.
Who's Arriving? #
The first Orange-crowned Warblers were feeding on the maple blossoms on Monday. I'm looking for swallows, Western Tanagers and the surprises that show up every spring. Ex-sight-ment!

Kindness Corner #
Here are some examples of kindness seen in the wild this week. We would love more readers to write in with their own kindness sightings!
Elaine M from Orange County witnessed her sons giving $10 each of their own money to a person in need outside the yogurt shop.
Matt C and Sophia C of West Seattle were greeted by a friendly cat named Lilith on their walk today. "Since we have been so starved for company lately, having a friendly greeting by a soft kitty wanting to be petted was definitely an act of kindness! (We learned her name by looking at the name tag on her collar)."
TayStone Media Publications Creative Consultant Laurel T has seen her entire family show extreme generosity in Animal Crossings New Horizons this week. They have given each other bells (game currency) to do fun things with, sent cards and gifts to one another, and generally been loving, kind and thoughtful
